Components and Design Options for Float Wine Display Systems

The floating cable wine rack system consists of high-tension cables and glass plates. The tension cables are available in (Satin Chrome and (Matte Black). For the glass plates, you may choose between clear glass and light grey glass. However, the Satin Chrome tension cables go well with clear glass plates, while Matte Black looks perfect with grey glass plates.

The size of the glass plates will depend on the size of the bottles they will hold. The vertical spacing can be adjusted to suit the requirements of the homeowners. You may opt for a label-forward or neck-forward bottle orientation, depending on your preference. The minimum width for the neck-forward configuration requires a minimum width of 7 inches and 13 inches for the label-forward orientation. The standard length of the cables is 10 feet, but it can be longer or shorter upon the client’s request.

The design flexibility and luxurious appeal make floating cable wine racks more popular nowadays. Imagine your bottles look like they are floating in mid-air!

In one of their projects, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars built a modern wine cellar in the dining area of the client’s house. They drilled at least ¾ inches on the floor and ceiling to create secure and reliable backing. Installing the tension cables into a drywall ceiling was not possible.

The wine cellar with floating cable wine racks is a showstopper. The center of the wine display consists of label forward racking, while the last column on the left and right ends consists of neck forward racking. With seamless glass doors, the luxurious wine display is visible while the owners are enjoying meals with their guests.

Transforming a space into a stunning wine storage and display area requires knowledge and expertise. In North Shore, Canada, the owners of a beautiful home sought the help of Blue Grouse Wine Cellars to build their modern wine cellar in a small space. Learn the features incorporated into the design to create an elegant appeal.

Building a Modern Home Wine Cellar in North Shore

At Custom Wine Cellars Vancouver, we work with top-notch builders like Blue Grouse Wine Cellars. For many years, they have proven their reliability and expertise in wine cellar design and construction.  In one of their projects in North Shore, they converted a small space into a modern home wine cellar. Space constraints did not hinder the Blue Grouse team from creating an exceptional design.

Assessment and Planning Stage

When the owners chose to work with Blue Grouse Wine Cellars, a careful assessment was made. This process is crucial because it helps the builder to determine the specific needs of the client, tailor the custom wine cellar according to their requirements, and prevent costly modifications later on.

With keen attention to detail, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars gathered all the necessary information necessary for designing the wine room. The room measures 9 feet high, 5 feet wide, and 8 feet high. They created 3-dimensional drawings to provide the owners with better visualization of the completed wine room. The CAD images consist of different elevation views, racking styles, dimensions, and bottle capacities.

The Blue Grouse team submitted their design proposal to the client. Once approved, they started the installation of the modern home wine cellar.

Installing Wine Room Insulation and Vapor Barrier

As experts in wine cellar construction, Custom Wine Cellars Vancouver and Blue Grouse Wine Cellars know the importance of installing the correct insulation. Insulating a wine room will prevent the cold air from escaping the wine cellar and the warm air from interfering with the cooling efficiency of the wine refrigeration system.

A lack of or poor insulation will result in wine storage problems, leading to wine spoilage, breakdown of the cooling unit, and higher energy bills. In this modern home wine cellar, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars had to install glass walls and windows. Therefore, a higher insulation value was required. They insulated the back and sidewalls with R-20 and the ceiling with R-30. They also added a vapor barrier on the warm side of the wine room to separate the warm environment from the cold environment.

In this installation project, the owners wanted a minimalist design. To achieve this, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars installed metal wine racks from VintageView, one of the leading manufacturers of metal wine storage systems.

These wine racks are designed with a label-forward orientation. With the labels facing out, it would be easier to locate a specific type of wine. On the right wall, you will see single deep, wall-mounted wine racks placed next to each other. These wine racks are perfect for a small wine cellar like this because no floor space is used.

The back wall is the focal point of this modern home wine cellar. Blue Grouse Wine Cellars installed triple deep wine racks mounted on the top half of the wall, forming a rectangular arch. They added a stemware rack (also from VintageView) at the top section of the arch. It holds the wine glasses upside down.

They applied a Brushed Nickel finish to give the wine racks a lustrous appearance and blend well with the cabinetry. The cabinets consist of five sequoia-style doors that were constructed from Maple with a custom finish. The client’s wine cellar accessories and wood cases can be stored in these cabinets.

Construction challenges did not stop a professional from building a wine cellar. Known as one of the top-notch designers and installers in Vancouver, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars was able to design and install a unique and functional wine room in a basement. Traditional and modern features were combined to meet the client’s requirements.

With extensive experience in building wine rooms, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars offers storage solutions for those who dream of having a safe and beautiful place for their collection.

Recently, they have converted a large basement into a traditional and contemporary custom wine cellar in Vancouver.

After a careful assessment of the client’s aesthetic and functional requirements, they created 3-dimensional drawings of the wine cellar. The images show the plan views, elevations, and dimensions of the room.

Wine Cellar Construction

Wine Cellar Room Before Construction Began

Wine Cellar Room Before Construction Began

The original room had a heavy pool table and a couple of wine cabinets that had to be transferred upstairs. Blue Grouse Wine Cellars had to replace the old drywall with a new type of drywall intended for a climate-controlled wine room.

They had to add insulation on the walls and ceiling. The hidden room under the stairs, which can be accessed through a tiny door, had to be insulated as well because it will be used as an additional wine storage space.

Another challenge for Blue Grouse Wine Cellars is the window, which opened to the outdoors. They had to build a wall in front of it to prevent harmful light from coming through. After sealing the room, they started to install the wine racks, cooling system, door, lighting, and flooring.

Wood and metal wine racks were used to satisfy the client’s desire for a traditional and contemporary storage area. The wine room has two doors: one enters the residential wine cellar from the basement hallway and the other from the outdoors. They are both solid, exterior grade doors.

Sapele Wood and VintageView Metal Wine Racks

The appeal and mood of a wine room are determined by the overall design of the racking system. At Blue Grouse Wine Cellars, they make sure that the material and style of wine racks exceed the owner’s standards. They use their passion and creativity to build custom wine rooms that can be the envy of every guest.

In this wine room conversion project, wood and metal wine racks were combined to create a storage display that suits the needs of a high-end wine collector.

Stylish Wine Racks Constructed from Sapele Wood

Custom wine cellar builders in Vancouver recommend the Sapele wood wine racks because of their stability and high resistance to rot. Since Sapele is a hardwood species that has interlocking grain pattern, it is known to be harder than other types of wood. It is also widely used by manufacturers of doors and windows.

With attractive grain patterns and natural luster, Sapele can add character to your wine storage room. They left the wine racks unfinished because the owner wanted a scent-free cellar.

Elevation B is the first racking that you’ll see when you enter the door from the basement hallway. It starts with a 5-level quarter round wine rack where the client can display a few bottles vertically.

It also provides a good storage area for wine accessories like decanters and wine glasses.

Space Constraints Should not Stop You From Building an Eye-Catching Vancouver Commercial Wine Cellar

Salam Bombay Restaurant

The limited space did not stop Blue Grouse Wine Cellars from building a more functional and attractive commercial wine cellar. Custom wine displays like this can be a surefire method for increasing restaurant profits.

Good Presentation of Bottles Can Help Generate Sales

increase in wine salesKeeping wines in boxes or displaying them in ordinary shelves will not encourage people to purchase a bottle or two. This is why the demand for wine cellars is increasing in many restaurants all over the world, including Canada.

For restaurants that offer wine, bottle presentation should not be ignored. Owners must keep in mind that having an attractive display in their restaurant will draw people’s attention and help generate sales. The way you display your wines reflects your personality, and contributes to how consumers will perceive the quality of your products.

When designed by a professional, your commercial wine storage space will create a relaxing ambiance for the diners. It will also ensure that your wines are stored in the right conditions, keeping them from being damaged by temperature fluctuations and improper humidity levels. Selling bad wine will ruin your business’ reputation, and customers may not go back to your restaurant again. Fewer customers will result in less profit.

A Simple Wine Room Transformed into an Appealing Vancouver Commercial Wine Cellar

On Burrard Street in Vancouver, British Columbia, Salam Bombay is the ideal place for wine drinkers who love contemporary Indian cuisine. Diners can choose their favorite vintage from a wide range of red and white wines. There’s also a great selection for Champagne lovers.

Salam Bombay modular wine racks

Modular Wine Racks, the Restaurant’s Old Wine Storage System

The old storage system was very simple, creating no visual impact at all. The wines were displayed in modular wine racks in a small area adjacent to the restaurant’s bar.

The bottles were stored horizontally and vertically in square bins. The labels of most bottles were hidden, making it hard to find a specific type of wine. Making guests wait for their wine will affect the perception your guests have of the quality of your service.

With an aim to generate more sales, the owner, Jose Madappilly, decided to change his small and plain storage area into a more functional and appealing wine room. He talked to one of the leading wine storage experts in Canada, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars.

Having a small space does not mean you can’t have a lovely commercial wine display. Blue Grouse has successfully converted small wine rooms into one-of-a-kind wine cellars.

For this project, they created a contemporary design suitable for the limited space. The room intended for the wine display measures 6 ft. wide, 5 ft. deep, and 9 ft. high.
