Custom Wine Cellars Vancouver aims to provide wine storage solutions that suit the aesthetic and financial requirements of each client. Nowadays, modern design continues to be in demand because of the many benefits it offers.

We have had clients who asked for tips on creating a modern wine cellar for their collection. They asked us whether a home glass wine room would fit their needs. We will perform a careful assessment of your needs and take note of every detail gathered from you.

Considering the following factors will ensure that we will be able to create the perfect design for your home wine cellar:

  • Size and shape of the room
  • Number and sizes of bottles intended to be stored in the wine room
  • Existing décor of the home
  • Your aesthetic preferences
  • Your budget

Our team has extensive experience transforming spaces into striking wine displays. We use our creativity and passion to build residential wine rooms. We have designed and installed glass custom wine cellars, creating art pieces in our clients’ homes.

Glass Custom Wine Cellars Project: Wine Room with a Unique Curve Shape

In one of our wine cellar construction projects, we installed a glass home wine cellar in an open curved space. As one of the master builders in Vancouver, nothing could hinder us from building exceptional custom wine rooms.

Before creating the design, we conducted a survey of the area to be utilized for the build-out project. We took measurements and created a design that would bring the owner’s space into a stunning wine display.

We created 3-dimensional drawings showing the different elevations, racking dimensions, bottle configurations, door design, and placement of the door and wine cooling unit. We submitted our design proposal and waited for the approval of the client before starting the installation of the wine cellar.

Glass Enclosure Perfect for a Modern Custom Wine Cellar

The glass door was the perfect choice for a modern wine cellar like this. In our original draft, the glass enclosure had a frame. However, the owners did not like the thick frame, so we

went for the frameless glass enclosure. The result was impressive! The frameless glass is 12 mm thick, done as Starphire low iron glass.

The glass enclosure is visible because of the thin mohair low-pile weather stripping around the door. This mechanical feature creates an airtight seal, preventing air leakage through the gaps.

Wine Bar: a Trend in Residential Custom Wine Cellars

In one of our projects northeast of Vancouver, we created a one-of-kind wine cellar design consisting of a wine bar. Whoever sees the wine display area will be inspired to choose their favorite vintage from the wine racks and relax in the cozy space.

The client and our team agreed that we would design the millwork, and he would have someone install the wine racks because of the location.

After the homeowners contacted us to seek help with their project, we created a design proposal consisting of three design layouts. In the first layout, the design was simpler, intended for housing 650 bottles without a wine cooling system. The racking consisted of open vault bins, individual slots, diamond bins, and an archway with a small countertop.

In the second design, the bottle capacity was only 400 bottles with additional cabinets. We retained the racking styles found in the first proposal. The only difference was the addition of the cigar humidor.

In the third and last drawing, the design consisted of racking that could accommodate 340 bottles, including built-in refrigerated wine cabinets, a cigar humidor, and an arch opening with a stemware rack. This was the design chosen by the homeowners.

The arch opening is the focal point of the wine cellar. The four-layer, eight-rack stemware is not only for storing wine glasses; it can also hold a few bottles and wine accouterments.

A New Home with a Traditional Basement Wine Cellar Design

The owners previously lived in a condominium and had a series of wine cabinets where they used to store their wine collection. Their collection was growing, so they thought they needed to invest in a dedicated wine cellar. When they purchased their new home, they decided to convert their basement into a wine storage space with traditional features.

Before starting the construction process, we made an on-site visit to check if the place would be a feasible location for building a climate-controlled wine room, and yes, it was. A detailed 3D basement home wine cellar design was submitted to the owner, making sure he understood how he could organize his collection consisting of various bottle sizes. We had to create a racking system for 1,200 bottles.

Designing wine racks requires creativity and keen attention to detail. At Custom Wine Cellars Vancouver, we always ensure we create the perfect wine storage system for your home. In this basement wine cellar design, the client had a niche-type area where we had to build a front wall to enclose a specific area in the basement. He chose a traditional basement wine cellar design. We installed wooden wine racks and wall paneling to meet the client’s requirements.

We combined four racking styles to maximize the storage capacity and add more functionality to the residential wine cellar. These include label view shelves, diamond bin loose bottle storage, individual bottle storage, and bulkhead to angle bottle display.

The focal point in this basement home wine cellar is the peninsula at the center of the wine room. We incorporated a cascading wine display for standard and large-format bottles. The staircase pattern added a wow factor to the residential wine cellar.

He sought the help of Blue Grouse Wine Cellars, one of the most reliable builders in Canada. With many years in the wine cellar construction industry, the team has proven their expertise and creativity in building eye-catching custom wine cellars.

Before creating a design proposal, they conducted an assessment to gather important information that would affect the overall functionality and appeal of the wine room. They also measured the area to be utilized for the project and discussed all of the client’s requirements.

Designing the Vancouver Basement Wine Cellar

After a careful assessment of the owner’s needs, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars started creating 3-dimensional images. These drawings consist of the different wine room elevations, bottle capacities, room dimensions, racking styles, and door design.

The goal was to create a design that would fit 1,200 bottles. Since the client had bottles of various sizes, we tailored the wine storage system to accommodate standard and non-standard bottles. The Blue Grouse team had to build a wall in front to fully enclose the space. The wall panels are made of beeswax walnut wood, the same material used for the racking.

The owner wanted a traditional wine cellar design with wooden wine racks. Different bottle configurations were combined to create a unique wine display and maximize the storage capacity of the wine room. One of the features of this basement wine cellar is the lit bulkhead that lines the top of the wine racks.

Back Wall: the Focal Point of the Basement Wine Cellar

The back wall is the focal point of the Vancouver basement wine cellar. It consists of a peninsula wine rack intended to display the bottles in cascading manner and add character to the residential wine room. This section has bottle openings for storing large-format bottles horizontally. There is a wooden louvered grill cover at the top of it to conceal the evaporator of the wine cooling unit. The wine room looks more elegant without any visible equipment.

Blue Grouse Wine Cellars also incorporated individual wine racks and high-reveal display rows on both sides of the waterfall racking. The display rows pitch the bottles at an angle to keep the cork moist. Adding a lighting system above them highlights the bottles beautifully.

There was an unused space in the client’s home, which they wanted to utilize and transform into functional wine storage and display area. The unenclosed nook has a curved wall and was originally a space for relaxing with a glass of wine. The couple contacted Blue Grouse Wine Cellars to help them build a wine room for their collection.

This residential wine cellar has Red Oak millwork installed on the curved back wall. The wood wine racks were stained and lacquered to create a lustrous look. The Blue Grouse team incorporated an archway at the center of the wine room. It comes with a small countertop that provides space for displaying a few bottles and serving wines. There are rectangular openings above it.
